Synopsis

In 2024, Singapore’s GDP grew 4%, reflecting a recovery from previous years. In 2025, the economic outlook remains cautious but positive with the forecasted GDP growth downgraded to 0-2%. Uncertainty from the announcement of US Tariffs and escalating global trade conflicts could disrupt global supply chains, dampen demand, increase costs and pose challenges for Singapore’s highly interconnected and trade-dependent economy. Nonetheless, Singapore’s strong fundamentals and proactive policy responses provide cushion to navigate these challenges. Companies should build on this momentum, while navigating the complexities of an evolving labour market, macroeconomic conditions, and technological advancements.

Singapore’s low fertility rate remains a key challenge in the year ahead, driving continued discussions around family-friendly policies, parental leave, and flexible work arrangements. At the same time, a rapidly ageing workforce prompts more flexibility in wage structures over seniority-based wage practices. Trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and digital transformation are also reshaping employment patterns, with a greater emphasis on upskilling and adapting to new job roles.

This session will begin by examining the global and regional economic landscape, followed by a detailed analysis of Singapore's economic outlook for 2025 and 2026We will also dive into the evolving landscape of wages, the labour market, as well as explore latest compensation and benefits practices to help HR leaders navigate these developments with data-driven insights.

As employers continue to transform their businesses and workforce to meet future demands, HR professionals play a crucial role in ensuring resilience. With evidence-based insights from SNEF surveys and other reputable sources, this session will provide actionable takeaways to guide businesses in building a future-ready workforce.

This session will be facilitated by the SNEF Centre for Labour Information & Analytics (CLIA). Limited seats are available due to the exclusivity of the event.
